Bio;

Jennifer Hillhouse has worked in the creative industries since 2010, specialising in pottery, photography, and design. With a strong eye for aesthetics and a knack for problem-solving, she has established several creative businesses and built a career around developing thoughtful, tangible solutions. She’s passionate about getting to know her clients and capturing their stories in ways that are both considered and uniquely personal.

Jennifer plays an integral role at Clayschool Brisbane, where she leads Creative Direction and Studio Development. She also oversees student intake, coordinates workshops, and curates the school’s exhibitions—shaping both the physical and creative environment of the school.

Her own pottery work forms the basis of Jennifer’s personal artistic practice. Her primary interest is woodfiring, a passion that guides her studio practice. She actively seeks opportunities to gain experience in varied kilns and firings around Australia and has an aspiration to forge international connections to woodfirers abroad. Building her own kiln is a longterm ambition.  Jennifer’s work is informed by her design sensibilities, where drawing and photography often play integral roles in the conceptual development of her forms.

Though her career spans distinct fields, Jennifer sees them as deeply interconnected. Design informs her photography, photography sharpens her eye for pottery, and pottery grounds her creative direction. At the heart of it all is a commitment to creativity, experimentation, and meaningful storytelling. In short, Jennifer Hillhouse is a creative entrepreneur working across clay, photography, and design.
